Hello,
I am new to my position as a reference librarian at a graduate medical school. We train doctors and pharmacists and support researchers as well.
My school is in the process of revising its curriculum. The library has several new staff, and we are going to review and revamp our instruction.
So, I'm wondering in general, if your library provides instruction to graduate medical students, what is your approach? Can you tell me a bit about your program?
What kind of instruction do you typically do? Orientation? Tailored or scaffolded research classes (for specific groups)? Elective walk in sessions?
Are you embedded in any classes? Do you evaluate students' skills or instruction sessions you offer? Or have any rubrics that you use?
Much of my experience is with undergraduate medical students, and I think the approach and their needs are very different.
So I'd be interested to hear how other libraries approach instruction for graduate medical students.
Thanks!
