    Hi All,

I'm sorry that I couldn't come to the first meeting at the ALA Annual. *bummer!*

Anything you could share from the meeting?

I'm so excited when I heard that ALA Council passed a resolution to encourage accesible web pages and also for the products libraries purchase of license.

    thanks,

    ranti.

Ranti, Thanks for your interest in the Universal Accessibility IG and your interest in the resolutions! I just got back from the conference today and I'm planning to type up some notes from the discussion. We had 6 attendees, and discussion I found very productive, which I thought was very good for a 8am Monday meeting of a group too new to have gotten into the conference's listing of events! Some of the topics we discussed were web accessibility, a Libguide someone has created about accessibility, accessibility of Libguides itself, captioning, definitions of disability, DVD players that play captioning, accessibility of online tutorials, using virtual conference for the Midwinter conference in January, suggestions for the time of the meeting for Midwinter (8am Monday was good for the attendees, but we still want input from those who couldn't make it this time), and the need for an ACRL member to volunteer to chair the group for next year. There was a request for some introductory information about disability topics, so I'm planning to post some info on ALA Connect. I hope others will add any links, documents, or other information about accessibility that you find useful as well. Anytime and anywhere within the Universal Accessibility IG's space is good. -Adina
