Charge: ACRL’s Library EDI Committees Discussion Group seeks to provide a forum for practitioners, especially members of Library Diversity committees, to discuss EDI topics in academic libraries, and share resources useful to library workers engaged in EDI initiatives in libraries. They plan to work to support both library workers who are thinking about starting a diversity initiative and diversity committees that are already established.

  • 1.  Announcement: Applications for APALA Mentoring Committee Now Open!

    Posted 21 days ago

    Greetings,

The application to participate in the APALA Mentoring Program for 2024-2025 is now open. We are recruiting for protégés and mentors. Please share widely!

    • Protégés are library students or librarians with no more than 5 years professional experience (early career protégés), or librarians with 5 or more years of professional experience (mid-career protégés).

    • Mentors are APALA members with at least 5 years professional experience and are active in professional library associations. We generally have a higher need for mentors with archival and public library experience, so we especially encourage archivists and public librarians to apply.

The application will close July 31, 2024. The Mentoring Committee will match applicants in August and inform applicants of their status by mid August. The program runs from September 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.

Note that in order to participate, mentors and protégés must be or agree to become APALA members prior to the start of the program. Learn more at https://www.apalaweb.org/join-or-renew/. Send questions to mentoring@apalaweb.org.

    Take care,

    Jessica
