Hi all,
Looking forward to seeing you later today at our AI IG meet up!
Tuesday, November 18
4:00-5:00 PM ET / 3:00-4:00 PM CT / 2:00-3:00 PM MT / 1:00-2:00 PM PT.
Zoom link and details in the Nov 18 AI IG Meet Up - AI Competencies journal club Event announcement
We'll use a journal club format to dig into the recently shared, ACRL AI Competencies for Academic Library Workers. Now that these have been out for a few weeks, let's discuss! Skim or delve into them ahead of time and come prepared with comments, questions to discuss, or even examples of how you're seeing these applied in your work or at your library.
(No time to read ahead of time? Join us anyway!)
A couple discussion questions to start us off at the meet up:
- Which one (or more) of the Guiding Mindsets do you relate to? Have you experienced all of these? Are there particular contexts where one is more applicable in your experiences?
- What is a competency area you'd like to work on in particular? How do you think academic library workers can grow their skills in this area? Are you trying anything to grow your skills that is working well for you?
- Do you have an example to share of one or more of these competencies in application - in your work or at your library?

Relatedly, Heather, Amanda, and I have been excited to see initial responses in the signup form from those interested in presenting a lightning talk (or leading a discussion) in one of the AI Competencies' main categories!
