    Technical services work is often defined by the systems we inherit: metadata standards, classification schemes, workflows, and technologies designed to organize, describe, and provide access to information.  Yet many of today's challenges emerge when those systems encounter new realities.
    The ACRL Technical Services Interest Group (TSIG) invites you to join us for a virtual ALA Annual pre-conference exploring how metadata and technical services practitioners are adapting, experimenting, and building new approaches to both longstanding and emerging challenges in the field. 
    Program:
    • Legacy MARC21 Data as RDA/RDF: Conversion Tools, Workflows, and Results
    • Corralling the Metadata: Designing a Semi-Automated Islamicate Manuscript Cataloging Workflow
    • 710s: a special collections classification quagmire
    • GitHub for Catalogers
    • A Tight Space to fit in: the Shelflisting challenges for LCC Slavic Literatures Schedules
    The program will include opportunities for discussion and Q&A.
    Bringing together perspectives across academic and cultural heritage institutions, these presentations highlight innovative approaches to metadata, cataloging, workflow design, and the evolving practice of technical services.
