The ACRL Technical Services Interest Group focuses on the special needs and interests of all technical services workers in academic libraries.
We are looking for speakers to present in a lightning round format at the ALA Midwinter in Boston on Saturday, January 9, 2015 from 4:30 – 5:30 pm. Presentations should be no more than 5 minutes long.
We are especially interested in technical services in the academic library setting (electronic resources management, acquisitions, serials, cataloging, or other functional areas.)
Possible topics include:
- E-book licensing and accessibility / ereserves
- Workflow adjustments
- Institutional repository and Digital assess management metadata and inoperability
- Project management skills for tech services staff
- Trends away from employing students as workflows change
- Implementing assessment tools and techniques in Technical Services
- Technical Services leadership and recruiting a new generation of TS managers
- Reskilling Technical Services staff to address emerging area of TS work (e.g., metadata creation for digital projects)
- Getting buy-in from faculty on collection weeding projects

• Brief (150 words or less) summary of the proposed presentation
• Name and position of presenter
