The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and the University of Washington Libraries (UW) jointly plan and co-sponsor the biennial conference, which will next be held in November 2024 in person (location to be determined). The LAC Planning Committee plays an important role in conference direction and support. ARL and UW are committed to diversity and addressing structural inequity and encourage applicants who address those principles. This opportunity is open to the broad library assessment community; committee members do not need to work for an ARL library.

The LAC Planning Committee serves under the direction of the conference co-chairs and works closely with an excellent planning team at ARL. Key responsibilities of planning committee members include the following:

    1. Participate in conference program planning and meetings
    2. Collaborate with co-chairs to shape content, including session formats, keynotes, overall program, and other events
    3. Review proposal submissions and participate in proposal ratings/selection process
    4. Promote the conference to encourage submissions and registration
    5. Participate in selection of any conference-related awards
    6. Identify and secure sponsors, as needed
    7. Provide logistical support at the conference

In-person attendance at the conference is expected, unless alternative arrangements are requested and agreed upon with the co-chairs.

The time commitment for a planning committee member will be an average of four to eight hours per month. The term for this position will begin as soon as it is filled and will end at the conclusion of the conference in late 2024. Conference fees and conference lodging are waived for committee members. Planning committee members will be responsible for covering their own transportations costs.
