Heading to ALA Midwinter in Philly? Join us for this free and open discussion about career transitions.

Title: From Support Staff to Librarians: A Discussion on Career Transitions

Summary: Often times paraprofessionals/support staff may be overlooked for professional opportunities. However, there is an increasing need to acknowledge, recognize and include paraprofessionals/support staff for their career interests in librarianship. In this discussion, we will feature a panel of librarians who have worked as paraprofessionals/support staff in a variety of capacities. The discussion will cover key issues for academic library management/administration to consider when supporting their paraprofessionals/support staff. The panelists will also provide advice for those who are currently support staff/paraprofessionals who would like to be librarians.
