Project Outcome (www.projectoutcome.org) helps public libraries understand and share the impact of essential library services and programs. It is designed to give libraries simple tools and supportive resources to help turn better data into better libraries. This community is for Project Outcome users at public libraries to discuss their use of outcome measurement, ask each other about patron engagement strategies, and further the thoughts and conversations that begin with projectoutcome.org. Here, you can find various threads to ask and answer questions, start your own conversations, or further your own learning about how libraries are using outcome measurement to improve their patron-focused programs and services.

    Hello All!

PLA delivered a presentation yesterday on outcome measurement at the Illinois Library Association Conference. The audience had some great questions, most of which are addressed in resources available on the Outcome Measurement for Public Libraries webpage. Just in case you were looking for similar information, I thought it would be a good idea to share the resources here. Let me know if this sparks other questions about outcome measurement at your library!

How do we convince patrons to participate in surveys?
Resource: How to Talk to Patrons

Do we need to provide incentives to get patrons to participate in our surveys?
    Resource: Survey Best Practices

What about library leadership - how do we get them on board to start outcome measurement?
    Resource: Building Internal Support
Resource: Setting Goals for Outcome Measurement

Can we get some direction on patron surveys for the library as a whole - not just specific program or service evaluations?
    Resource: Impact Measurement Beyond Outcomes

    All the best,
    Katina
