ALA's International Relations Round Table Webinar Committee invites you to join us for our next webinar: "Reading for Pleasure: Initiating and sustaining a love of reading among children and young people"
Reading for pleasure is associated with a wide range of positive intellectual, educational, social and emotional outcomes, yet international research evidences a decline in children and young people's volitional reading. Drawing upon the insights from two international research experts, this webinar will highlight key knowledge and practices for library professionals to inspire and sustain a love of reading among children and young people.
This webinar will include two presentations.
1. Exploring the knowledge base needed to nurture readers
Presenter: Teresa Cremin is Professor of Education (Literacy) at The Open University, UK, and co-Director of the Literacy and Social Justice Centre
2. Understanding and enhancing reading engagement
Presenter: Sarah McGeown is Professor of Literacy at the University of
Edinburgh, and Director of the Literacy Lab
When: Wednesday 2nd April, 07:00am Eastern (US & Canada) / 8:00pm Singapore (12 GMT)
(The webinar will be recorded; a link will be posted to the webinar IRRT page and sent to registrants.)
