    Tuesday 19 May 6.30 a.m. PDT / 9.30 a.m. EDT / 2.30 p.m. WAT / 4.30 p.m EAT

    Speakers:

Evelyne Mwandia, Executive Director, Start A Library Trust (Kenya)

Start A Library establishes libraries, trains school communities, delivers literacy programs, and advocates for equitable literacy policies in Kenya. Their activities include training classroom teachers as teacher-librarians, supporting creative writing, and coaching parents and student clubs in promoting reading and life skills. The Library of Congress Literacy Awards named Start A Library a 2025 Successful Practices Honoree for their National Read Aloud initiative. Evelyne will discuss the work at Start A Library and put it in a broader systems perspective that all practitioners can relate to.
