As many of you already know, SUCHO ( (Saving Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Online ) is an initiative which was created in February 2022 immediately after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Today it has more than 1 300 volunteers  who are collaborating to digitize and preserve Ukrainian cultural heritage. Here are some recent updated on SUCHO:

    • This video  session took place at the Europeana annual conference (September 28-30, 2022). It is an  excellent recap about  SUCHO  initiative from an IT professional perspective. The one-hour video is about SUCHO beginnings, web archiving tools ((Webrecorder, Zipped -WACZ), digital heritage platforms, non-profit collaboration clouds, digital cultural heritage protection and preservation, etc. There is also reference to SHKO (Save Hong Kong Online) initiative that has used the same tools to preserve Hong Kong media sites.

    • The recent bombings significantly damaged the buildings of Taras Shevchenko National University, including  the M. Maksymovich Scientific Library.  The Shevchenko University is asking for support to repair the damage caused by Russian missile strikes.  SUCHO Equipment Fund decided to donate 5 000 €  towards the restoration of the library.  Please forward the Taras Shevchenko University call for help to your institution(s).

    Regards,
    Alexandra
