The mission of the International Relations Round Table is to promote interest in library issues and librarianship worldwide; to help coordinate international activities within ALA, serving as a liaison between the International Relations Committee and those members of the Association interested in international relations; to develop programs and activities which further the international objectives of ALA; and to provide hospitality and information to visitors from abroad.

    TITLE: Library services to indigenous populations worldwide: rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity

    DESCRIPTION: The American Library Association (ALA) United Nations Subcommittee in collaboration with the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and the IFLA's Indigenous Matter Section present a virtual event during the days of the United Nations General Assembly featuring indigenous library leaders in conversation on September 26. This dialogue will be about challenges and opportunities related to library services to indigenous populations in different regions of the world.

    We will feature areas such as rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity, social protection systems, climate change and cultural rights which reflect the overarching theme of the 78th UN General Assembly: "'Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all."
