Dear colleagues,
I would like to share an important development from Argentina. The Association of Certified Librarians of the Argentine Republic (ABGRA - Asociación de Bibliotecarios Graduados de la República Argentina) is supporting a Bill (currently in the House of Representatives) titled the "Federal Law of Professional Practice in Librarianship and Documentation," which includes stipulations to advance and guarantee the professional status and rights of librarians.
I encourage you all who are interested in Latin America to be aware of what happens, since if this Bill becomes a law, it would set a precedent for other countries, regarding the professional status of certified librarians.
Thank you for reading, and if anyone needs translation of some of the points or information, please let me know (they do not have much in English.)
Alicia
