Dear IRRT Members,
I would like to welcome you to join the IRRT's All Committee and Executive Board meetings if you are attending the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago from June 22-28. There will be 2 important meetings where IRRT members will be able to understand its activities and functions better. The IRRT's All Committee meeting will be held on Saturday June 24th at 8:30am at McCormick Place, W470. After entering the meeting room please find your designated sitting area, where you will meet your fellow committee members. At around 8:30am, the Chair of the IRRT will make his welcome remarks and will present IRRT's Annual Report based on the reports submitted by the IRRT committees. Following the welcoming remarks and report of IRRT activities, there will be an introductory session, where IRRT members can meet and greet one another. The chair then will present IRRT's Annual Report based on the reports that was submitted by co-chairs of the 15 IRRT committees. Thereafter members will have an opportunity to network with colleagues, to ask questions about the IRRT's mission and goals, and learn about different IRRT committee opportunities from current committee members. This will also be a time that committees can meet together in-person to celebrate the year's achievements. I hope this format will give members an opportunity to become more familiar with the work of IRRT as a roundtable, and will give an opportunity to get to know their colleagues and work better together.
The IRRT's Executive Board will meet on Sunday at 10:30 am – 11:30 am at McCormick Place, W475b. I encourage you to attend this meeting. This year the IRRT Board charged a task force with a review of IRRT's committee structure, and during the Executive Board meeting we will discuss the task force report as it recommends making some changes to the current organization of IRRT committees to better align with how we currently work and enable the roundtable to meet its current objectives and support future goals. The Board will present the proposal and ask IRRT members for input on the proposed changes. There will also be an opportunity for members not attending the Annual Conference to learn about the proposal and provide feedback in a webinar to be scheduled in July. With feedback from the membership of the roundtable collected, the Board will then be taking a motion to vote on the final proposal to restructure the IRRT committees. Please also check the IRRT's schedule to find all IRRT's committees sessions, meetings, and activities happening at the conference. I hope you can attend those meetings.
Best regards,
Safi Safiullah
