The mission of the International Relations Round Table is to promote interest in library issues and librarianship worldwide; to help coordinate international activities within ALA, serving as a liaison between the International Relations Committee and those members of the Association interested in international relations; to develop programs and activities which further the international objectives of ALA; and to provide hospitality and information to visitors from abroad.

    Come join us on the IRC Africa Subcommittee! We are looking for new members for the upcoming term, 2024/2026.

    As part of the International Relations Committee, we support ALA's "international relations programs and initiatives," exchanging information with colleagues across Africa and advocating for international librarianship. https://www.ala.org/aboutala/irc-africa-subcommittee

    This year's projects include promoting the Sister Cities International 500 in 5 Initiative, which is working to connect 500 cities in Africa with cities in the United States in the next 5 years (starting in 2023). This initiative dovetails nicely with ALA's Sister Libraries program.
