  • 1.  A Couple Important Updates from The IRRT Executive Committee

    Posted Jan 17, 2024 11:33 PM

    Dear IRRT Members,

On behalf of the IRRT Executive Committee (EC), I would like to wish you a happy New Year and thank you all for the work that you have been doing for IRRT and international library connections over the last 6 months! I would also like to give you an update on a couple of important items that the EC has been working on:

    1. As I mentioned in the last edition of International Leads, the IRRT Reorganization Plan has been approved and the new committee structure will begin after ALA Annual in July. More information will be coming from the EC about the changes in the next couple of months, but you can also always feel free to contact me with any questions.
    2. Also mentioned in the last International Leads, the IRRT Bylaws work is finally coming to a close. I am happy to announce that the IRRT EC has voted to approve the draft of the new "IRRT Rules" (we can no longer call them bylaws) for inclusion on the upcoming ballot! This now means that the time is soon approaching for you, the IRRT members, to participate in your role in the process. We will be sending out a draft of the new rules proposal prior to the vote so that folks can have time to look things over and consider the changes, but I would also like to invite you to join me on January 29th at 12pm Eastern (5pm UTC) for a presentation of the bylaws standardization process and an explanation of proposed changes to IRRT's bylaws. You can join the meeting at: https://ala-events.zoom.us/j/81330765235?pwd=ZUhPOVlhZm1VbHNBWk82R05OWXVhQT09 and we will record the presentation and meeting for folks to review later if you are unable to attend live.
    3. Finally, if you will be attending LibLearnX in Baltimore this Friday, I will be hanging out in the Networking Nook, room 320 at the Baltimore Convention Center from 9:30 to 11:30 and would love to answer any questions, talk about any concerns, explore any ideas or interests you might want to bring forward, or just have a chat!

Once again, thank you for all you do to make IRRT a great place to be and do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!

    Mark

UPDATE: Unfortunately, due to weather conditions I will not be able to be at LibLearnX today. If you were planning to stop by the Networking Nook and would still like to speak with a member of the executive committee, please get in touch with my via Connect and we can set up a Zoom call instead.
