You are invited to join the PPIRS Professional Development Committee for a two-part workshop series on finding and using international social science datasets. Do you ever get patron requests asking for help finding data and don't know where to start? These workshops will cover the essentials of data discovery and interpretation for the social sciences librarian, with a focus on international relations, political science, and public policy.
In the first workshop, Jennifer Huck will cover:
- Different types of data: survey, administrative, aggregate, etc.
- Characteristics of social science data: time period, geography, etc.
- Broad overview of international social science datasets – the top sources you should know (and how to use).
The workshop is intended for librarians with limited to intermediate experience using social science data, but all PPIRS members and guests are welcome!
Jennifer Huck is the Data Librarian at the University of Virginia Library.
First Workshop: Oct 22, 2020 12:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Second Workshop: December (date and time tbd)
