Hi, everyone! I am a LIS student at San Jose State University. I'm working on a summer semester research project for my department's director. We are researching the key characteristics of the LIS environment in South Korea, with the goal of identifying the potential for beginning an online LIS degree program. I'm reaching out to anyone here on IRRT for assistance in several aspects:

    1) I need contacts, preferably Korean LIS professors, American LIS professors who are teaching in Korea, Korean LIS professionals, and Korean recent graduates either of a program in Korea or in the U.S.

    2) I need to identify potential recruiting partners, including 3rd party agents and lead-generation sites. I also want to know if anyone has any insight into what conferences or other promotion channels would be good for reaching out to potential students, whether in Korea or international.

Any help, any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much!

    Whitney Zahar

    Hello Whitney,

I met a representative from South Korea's National Library at ALA Las Vegas, and she was very helpful at providing information.  Please email me and I will virtually introduce her to you.   Likewise, at ALA Las Vegas, I met the Director of the American Center Korea (U.S. Embassy), and she also may be able to help you.  Just email me.  Regards, John Hickok  International/Outreach Librarian, California State University Fullerton, ALA IRRT Chair-Elect  jhickok[at]fullerton.edu
