Good morning,
You are invited to attend a webinar on the new International ILL Toolkit on Thursday, February 17, starting at 11am Eastern time (US). This webinar is co-sponsored by the ALA RUSA STARS International Interlibrary Loan Committee and the OCLC Research Library Partnership and will be presented by Lapis Cohen (University of Pennsylvania), Dennis Massie (OCLC), and Brian Miller (The Ohio State University). Register here.
The International ILL Toolkit is a freely available, crowd-sourced effort to make global resource sharing easier. The project was initiated after a discussion among members of the SHARES resource sharing consortium, where members compared notes about the difficulty of finding information about ILL lenders willing to share internationally that aren't suppliers on OCLC WorldShare ILL. Everyone seemed to have their own cache of information about such lenders and a decision was made to compile all of that information into a shareable tool and then systematically search for information on other such lenders.
The session will be an opportunity for you to explore the components of the Toolkit:
- An ever-growing listing of lenders from around the world with contact, delivery, and payment information
- A list of libraries in the United States who lend internationally
- Tips and tricks for international ILL by country/region
- Translated ILL request templates which can be copied for local use, prepared in collaboration with library professionals fluent in that language
You'll also get a peek at future plans for the Toolkit and, perhaps most importantly, participate in the dialogue on ways to continue improving this valuable, evolving resource.
