Bio

I currently work as the Teen Librarian at the Brookline Public Library in Brookline, Massachusetts. I've been involved with graphic novels and comics in libraries for over nine years. I started my website, No Flying No Tights while in library school at the University of Illinois, and from then on I've been involved in many aspects of graphic novels and libraries. To list a few of my professional accomplishments, I helped to establish and been a member of the Great Graphic Novels for Teens Committee for ALA/YALSA, including being Chair in 2008. I have served on the Graphic Novel Task Force, the Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults Committee, and am currently Chair of the Margaret A. Edwards Committee. I was a judge for the 2007 Will Eisner Industry Awards, the ""Oscars"" of the comics world. Here in Brookline I've had great fun establishing the first Teen Room the library has ever had, and starting up a whole slate of programs for teens (also a first for this library) including a manga and anime club, a Teen Advisory Group, and stand alone programs including crafts, gaming, and, a teen favorite, cupcake decorating.
