Recommendations from the US Office of Science and Technology Policy for updating public access policies for federally funded research put metadata at the center. While the details of specific agency policies are many years off, libraries can begin to prepare by developing strategies for persistent identifiers, good research data management practices, and awareness of impacts on scholarly publishing. In this session, OCLC staff are joined by knowledgeable colleagues who are meeting these challenges head-on. We will explore questions related to research data management, metadata that complies with agency guidelines, adoption of persistent identifiers like ORCID, and impacts for university presses.
