Kia ora koutou
In August 2024 NLNZ cataloguers began cataloguing using Official RDA. In December 2024 we released the first part of our practical training resources. The second part of our practical training in Official RDA is now available through Niche Academy. https://my.nicheacademy.com/natlib.gov.nz
The tutorials in this release cover aggregate manifestations and encoding Official RDA in MARC 21. The new tutorials have been added to the Practical Cataloguing pathway. https://my.nicheacademy.com/natlib.gov.nz/pathway/79487
There is also a bonus tutorial with some miscellaneous extra lessons. We may add more lessons to this tutorial over time.
NLNZ has implemented Official RDA for serial works and music scores and we hope to release tutorials covering these formats following the July Toolkit release along with a tutorial on parallel aggregates.
As our implementation proceeds we've changed some of our earlier decisions on how we encode Official RDA in MARC 21. We've updated the website to reflect this and you can see the updated decisions here https://natlib.govt.nz/librarians/cataloguing-standards-at-the-national-library/marc-record-changes-due-to-rda-implementation
Please contact nznb@dia.govt.nz if you have questions about our training materials, or just want to talk about RDA.
