    Greetings ALA Councilors,

Please find attached the Guidelines for preparing and submitting Resolutions, Memorials, and Tributes for the ALA Council Meetings at the 2024 Annual Conference in San Diego, CA. Any councilor, along with a seconder, is eligible to propose a resolution for consideration at Council Meetings, provided that the resolution has been reviewed by the ALA Resolutions Committee. All resolutions must be submitted to the ALA Resolutions Committee at alaresolutions@ala.org at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to the commencement of a meeting. This deadline ensures that the final resolutions will be published by the Council Secretariat (Marsha Burgess mburgess@ala.org) within twenty-four (24) hours of the meeting's commencement.

When submitting a resolution to the Resolutions Committee for review, it is important for the movers to fill out and submit the Resolution e-Form found, here. There are instances where certain sections of the e-form may not be relevant, so please ensure thorough completion. Your input is crucial in speeding up the resolution process.

To provide ample time for other Councilors to review your resolution, kindly submit your proposed resolution as a "Document" to the ALA Council community ala-council@connectedcommunity.org

For inquiries regarding Resolutions, Memorials, and Tributes, please contact John Clexton, chair of the Resolutions Committee, at alaresolutions@ala.org. The committee will carefully examine all resolutions that have been proposed and seconded and may propose modifications to ensure clarity and facilitate the body's deliberation process.

    As a reminder:

Throughout the year, ALA Resolutions can be submitted to the ALA Resolutions Committee (alaresolutions@ala.org) for review. Once reviewed and any necessary communication is completed, the resolutions will be added to the agenda for the next Council or Membership meeting.

    Thanks,

    John Clexton, ALA Resolutions Chair
