Renate Behrens (RSC Chair) and the rest of the RDA Steering Committee are pleased to invite observers to the Public Session of the RSC Meeting on 30 January 2024 (online).

The agenda of the full meeting (RSC/Agenda/444-455) is available as a pdf (RSC website | ALAIR), with details of the Public Session on page 3.

There are no proposals or discussion papers at this meeting, but Renate Behrens will present the Annual Report 2023 and Action Plan 2023-2026, and there will be the usual verbal updates from ALA Digital Reference and from our Working Groups, Regional Representatives, Wider Community Engagement Officer and Education and Orientation Officer.

However, written minutes will be published as soon as possible after 2 February.

Note 1: The Annual Report and Action Plan are scheduled to be reviewed and approved at the start of the RSC Executive Session (29-30 January) and will be published as soon as possible.

Note 2: All Public Sessions for the year were originally scheduled for 2 hours, but the length of session is dependent on the number of proposals and discussion papers received for the particular meeting.

Call for Host Institution for RSC Meeting, 11-15 November 2024

The RSC welcomes invitations from institutions that may be interested in hosting its November meeting. The RSC comprises 12 people, but part of the RSC meeting will likely be open to observers; this provides interested parties the opportunity to see how RDA is built and how international consensus is reached. One of the days could be an outreach or training event for the local or regional community.

There are some basic requirements for hosting an RSC meeting which are described in RSC/Operations/6.

The decision on the location and dates will be made through negotiation as well as consultation with the copyright holders and the RDA Board.

If you are interested in hosting, or have questions, please contact Renate Behrens, RSC Chair, at rscchair@rdatoolkit.org by Monday, 29 January 2024.

    Other RSC News

The RSC is delighted to announce that Charlene Chou has been reappointed for a second term as Widening Community Engagement Officer and that Elisa Sze will be continuing in her role as Education and Orientation Officer, which has now become a permanent position on the RSC. Both Elisa and Charlene have made invaluable contributions in the last few years, and it is good news that they are willing and able to continue their work with us and the RDA cataloging and teaching communities.

We are sad that Honor Moody is standing down as RDA Examples Editor, having completed her term, but grateful that she is staying on as a member of the newly-formed Examples Working Group and will ease the transition for the new RDA Examples Editor, Jessica Grzegorski, whose term formally commenced on 1 January. As a new Standing Working Group, the Examples Working Group is actively it is actively recruiting for members. If you have experience in generating examples, perhaps for teaching and training colleagues, and are interested in getting involved, please contact Jessica in the first instance. Her contact details are available on our list of RSC members.

You can find further information about each of these appointments in the links provided, and can keep up with news and announcements from the RSC at News and Announcements | www.rda-rsc.org
