Dear ALA Members,
The ALA Executive Board has received a number of inquiries regarding IFLA's 2024 WLIC location of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
We (The ALA Executive Board) has sent a query to the International Federation of Library Association (IFLA) regarding concerns related to its site selection for the 2024 World Library and Information Congress. ALA stands with the global LGBTQIA+ community and recognizes the multiple intersections of issues around the site. The Board is actively engaged with stakeholders across the Association to determine how best to move forward.
We will release more information after ALA Annual Conference when we have had the opportunity to consult with the ALA groups affected.
