During or just after our April Meeting, the RSC has shared several pieces of news:
Annual Report for 2024
Having presented it to the RDA Board and Steering Committee at their Joint Meeting on Monday 7 April, the RSC Chair and Secretary are pleased to publish the RSC Annual Report for 2024 (RSC/AnnualReport/2024). You can read the news about it here and access the full report here.
Implementing Official RDA
We've established a presentation from an institution that is implementing RDA as a regular feature of the RSC Public Sessions. So far we have heard from Michaela Edelmann on RDA DACH and Ebe Kartus on the NLNZ implementation and our July presentation will be announced soon. You can access recordings to presentations and further information on our new page on Implementing Official RDA. The full news announcement is here.
Protocol between the RSC and the Share Family / Share VDE Advisory Council
RSC Chair Renate Behrens, Michele Casalini (Casalini Libri) and Martin Knott, Nina Servizzi, Jackie Shieh and Nancy Fallgren (Share Family Advisroy Council) are pleased to share the new Protocol Between the RDA Steering Committee and the Share Family / Share-VDE Advisory Council (RSC/Chair/2025/9).
This agreement aims to establish the relationship at the strategic level between the Share Family / Share-VDE Advisory Council (SF/SVDE AC) and the RDA Steering Committee (RSC), the managing body for RDA.
Liaison can take place directly between the SF/SVDE AC and the RSC. Individual review groups reporting to either RSC or the SF/SVDE AC may form relationships as needed at more technical levels. The liaisons between the SF/SVDE AC are through the position of the Chairs.
In response to a question from observers in last week's Public Session of the RSC, Renate Behrens confirmed that this protocol provides the opportunity for regular, sustainable contact and exchange between the two communities. Observers in the Public Session spoke warmly of the Share-VDE Advisory Council and its work, and expressed optimism in the formalization of the relationship between the RSC and the Share Family.
In the Joint Meeting of the RDA Board and RSC on Monday 7 April, RDA Board Chair Colleen Barbus stressed the importance of internationalization. This protocol, alongside the renewal of the RSC's protocol with IFLA's standards groups (RSC/Chair/2023/3/rev - Protocol between the RSC and the IFLA Committee on Standards (CoS)) provides not only a commitment but also practical steps in furthering this strategic aim.
You can find out more about the RSC's current protocols with other international standards groups here.
Renate Behrens is looking forward to continuing to work with Martin Knott and his Share Family colleagues, now that our relationship has been formalized by the Protocol.
You can see the announcements from the RSC here and from the Share Family on their news page.
