You are invited to join us for this input session and discussion at the ALA Annual Conference 2024 in San Diego!

Museum and Library Services Act (MLSA) Reauthorization Stakeholder Input Session

MLSA is the federal legislation that authorizes the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) to carry out its programs. The current law authorizes IMLS through September 2025, so work is already underway to plan for the next authorization in Congress to take effect in October 2025. As the leading source of federal funding for libraries, this is an important opportunity for stakeholders to share their ideas regarding this federal legislation that has a direct impact on libraries at the local level.

Join members of the ALA Committee on Legislation's MLSA Reauthorization Task Force to hear about the work already underway and to provide your input. Karen Mellor, Chief of Library Services for Rhode Island, and Joseph Thompson, chair of the Task Force, will provide opening remarks.

    Saturday, June 29, 2024

    2:30pm – 3:30pm Pacific

    Manchester Grand Hyatt, Boardwalk Room
