    The December 2022 issue of the IFLA Metadata Newsletter is now available at https://repository.ifla.org/bitstream/123456789/2439/1/IFLA_Metadata_Newsletter_December_2022.pdf. Published twice a year, the Newsletter is a joint production of the IFLA Bibliography, Cataloguing, and Subject Analysis and Access Sections. 

    Featured in the December 2022 issue are reports on "Respectful Description Initiatives in Canada," the use of genre/form terms in Japan's National Diet Library, and professional library education at the National Library of Russia in St. Petersburg..

    There are reports on meetings of the American Library Association Core Subject Analysis Committee and links to presentations from the August 2022 "Knowledge Organization Competencies and Skills" webinar organized by the Training and Education in Subject Access (TESA) working group of the IFLA Subject Analysis and Access Section.  In addition, there is a link to Bibliography Section member Sandra Gisela Martín's presentation at the Universidad de Buenos Aires about her experiences on the committee.

    The issue is also packed with news about Répertoire de vedettes-matière (RVM), the Cataloguing Code of Ethics, the development of metadata guidelines for the procurement of library management systems, the RDA Steering Committee, the ISBD Review Group, Common Practices for National Bibliographies in the Digital Age, the National Bibliographic Register, the IFLA Linked Data Technical Sub-Committee
    (LIDATEC), and the Cataloguing Section's Names of Persons project.  You may also meet new SAA member Julia Bullard of the University of British Columbia.

    Announcements about such upcoming events as the ISBD RG's "From ISBD to ISBDM: A Bibliographic Standard in Transformation" and the August 2023 IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, are also included.
