PUBLIC POLICY AND ADVOCACY UPDATES
--> Action. Sign up for the Unite Against Book Bans campaign. It is easy to sign up. Be informed about what's happening to libraries and library workers in the book banning & censorship arenas. And take action if you can, with ALA. Ask your candidates to take the pledge to support freedom to read and oppose book bans.
--> Action. Join ALA and AASL to thank Sen. Reed and Rep Grijalva for introducing the Right to Read Act, which highlights and advances the valued role of school librarians.
--> Action. Registration now open for ALA's LibLearnX conference in January 2023 in New Orleans.
ALA PPA releases "Leverage Libraries to Achieve Digital Equity for All" based on a June convening held by ALA in Washington, D.C. Thanks to the Mellon Foundation for sponsoring the convening. Aimed towards getting libraries to get a chunk of the NTIA $$$ from the IIJA in 2023 and 2024.

50+ Reps have signed Rep. Andy Levin's and Rep. Espillat's letter calling for an historic investment to #BuildLibraries & modernize facilities. The funding, already included in the Senate budget proposal, would be the first of its kind in 25+ yrs.
ALA recommends Amber Gregory, Arkansas State Library, to be re-appointed to serve on the USAC board. Members of the EdLiNC coalition also endorsed her re-appointment.
