Dear Sophia,
Thank you for drafting a beautiful memorial for Satia. She is well-loved by so many.
There are a couple of corrections and a suggested addition I'd like to offer:
Satia was the head of the OLOS, what is now called the ODLOS - the term, diversity, was added to the office after she retired. It reflects the nature of the actual work she did.
Additionally, she was the impetus for the first Joint Conference (not Council) of Librarians of Color. And she has been a strong supporter of both the Conference and the Council ever since. The Council came almost 10 years later.
And would it be possible to add that she has been a major advocate for the National Associations of Librarians of Color (AILA, APALA, BCALA, CALA, and REFORMA)?
And I would love to be a seconder (or 3rd....) on the resolution if possible.
Thank you so much!
Alex

Dear Council,
I have submitted the attached Memorial Resolution to the Resolutions Committee to honor our Maine colleague Marcia Schatz. I have a seconder but wanted to share here to the list as well.
Thanks,
