    Hello everyone,

I am taking the opportunity to post this message as many of us would like to show our appreciation for all Paige Andrew has done for the map community by adding our messages to a kudoboard (link below).

Some of the information here was shared previously but it is worth repeating as Paige has had an extraordinarily productive career as a cataloger of maps. He began his career in 1986 at the University of Georgia before moving on to Penn State University in 1995, where he received tenure [and promotion to Associate Librarian] in 2001 and was promoted to Librarian in 2012. On the way he taught many map cataloging workshops, authored several books, and co-founded the Journal of Map and Geography Libraries, with Mary Larsgaard, which he also co-edited from 2002 to 2017. He has also been the recipient of many awards, including the Nancy B. Olson Award, the Margaret Mann Citation from the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS) in 2016, and the Map & Geospatial Information Round Table (MAGIRT) Honors Award in 2018.

His leadership skills and his contributions to the field of map cataloging cannot be praised enough.  Paige was named Distinguished Librarian in 2018, making him the third librarian at Penn State to receive this honor. He has been very busy, but he is also someone who is never too busy to answer an inquiry posted on a listserv, or to provide mentorship for an upcoming map cataloger, or to help a colleague. Now that is a nice guy.

Paige will be missed very much but at the same time, we wish him well as he retires this month and moves on to the next stage of his life.

Please follow the link to the kudoboard and post a note by October 1, to say a little something to wish him and his family the very best in the years to come! May they be many and happily enjoyed.

    Thank you.

    Best,

    Maggie
