The recently formed PCC Standing Committee on Membership and Programming is seeking proposals for the upcoming PCC At Large Virtual Conference to take place Wednesday, April 23rd and Thursday, April 24th.
What is the PCC At Large Virtual Conference? This event forms part of the new programming framework announced by the PCC in September 2024. The former Operations Committee (OpCo) held an annual hybrid event at the Library of Congress in early May of each year. That event featured discussions and presentations by the Library of Congress and other PCC member institutions. Topics ranged from those of broad interest to the PCC community to those specific to a PCC program (NACO/BIBCO/CONSER/SACO). In the current programming framework, the specific programs each have their own Virtual Forums held twice a year. The At Large Virtual Conference is intended for topics of broad interest to the PCC. All of these events are considered successors to the former OpCo event and as such are designed to be member driven and focused on knowledge sharing and community building. We need your help to make these new events successful!
We are seeking proposals on, but not limited to, the following topics:
-
Linked data
-
Reparative cataloging
-
Use of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) in cataloging
-
Recent subject heading proposals
-
Privacy in authority records
Proposals do not need to be in the traditional format of a formal presentation followed by Q+A. We also welcome panel discussions, breakout rooms, lightning talks, and other formats. The proposal deadline is Wednesday, March 26th. Suggestions that are not able to be accommodated for April's conference will be held for consideration for future PCC events.
