The Nominating Committee extends its gratitude to all of the members who put forth their names to be considered for this position and have expressed the desire to serve. Every year, the Nominating Committee selects candidates from within the general membership for council members-at-large.
Members who are not selected by the Nominating Committee may still run for office by petition. Those interested in running for ALA Council by petition have until 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on Dec. 31, 2023 to file an electronic petition with the ALA Governance Office. The petition must have the e-signatures of no fewer than 25 current personal members.
Candidates must electronically submit their Candidate Biographical Information Form with the petition. Instructions for filing petitions and additional election information is available on the ALA Election page.
Ballot mailing for the ALA election will begin on Monday, March 11, 2024 and will run through Wednesday, April 3, 2024. Individuals must be members in good standing to vote in the 2024 ALA Elections.
