Dear Council,
I regret to inform you that Libré Booker submitted resignations from her positions on both the ALA Executive Board and ALA Council on April 4, 2023.
ALA Bylaws Article V, Section 5 states in part that "A vacancy in the elected membership of the Executive Board shall be filled by Executive Board appointment, and the person so appointed will serve until the following election..."
On April 14, 2023 the ALA Executive Board accepted her resignation, and voted to leave her seat vacant until the end of her term on June 27, 2023.
We are thankful for Libré's time and commitment to the association as well as her passion for ALA and libraries during one of the most challenging times we have ever faced, both as a profession and as a nation. Her partnership and thoughtfulness were valued contributions to the board and we wish her all the best of luck in her future endeavors.
