There are a couple different threads from today relating to how to better get to know each other but I wanted to draw out one point Julie Dietzel-Glair mentioned in the session this morning: having
extremely brief personal statements to include in the at-large councilor ballot, to give candidates an opportunity to show voters why they deserve their vote. While this will make the already long ballot longer, I think it could actually make it less daunting for voters, as a sea of names (which I for one routinely google with varying success) will be replaced with a list of people with a short statement of what their perspective and priorities.
I don't know if there will be a list of action items coming out of our discussion this morning but I wanted to ask here what steps that would require and who someone should go to if they wanted to discuss trying to get this change implemented.
Thanks!
