The mission of the Government Documents Round Table (GODORT) is to (1) To provide a forum for discussion of problems, concerns, and for exchange of ideas by librarians working with government documents; (2) to provide a force for initiating and supporting programs to increase availability, use, and bibliographic control of documents; (3) to increase communication between documents librarians and other librarians; (4) to contribute to the extension and improvement of education and training of documents librarians.

    Are you new to Government Information Librarianship? A Documents expert attending your first ALA or hoping to get involved in GODORT after a long absence? A library school student interested in government information?

    If any of these apply to you and you’ll be attending ALA Midwinter in Dallas, please consider signing up for the GODORT Buddy program! Participants will be assigned a GODORT “buddy” who is an active member in the Government Documents Round Table to answer questions about GODORT and give you a personal introduction to our community.

    Your GODORT Buddy will meet you at the GODORT Happy Hour on Friday evening, January 20 (5:30pm-7:00pm, at the w xyz bar in the lobby of the Aloft Hotel, http://www.aloftdallasdowntown.com/), introduce you to other members and provide you with an information packet of GODORT information and goodies.
