Hi all,
I'm writing in my role as chair of the Intellectual Freedom Committee to share two resolutions that will be presented to Council.
The first is a
Resolution on U.S. Enterprises Abridgement of Free Speech (scroll down to page 9) This is a joint resolution from the IFC and the International Relations Committee that was originally referred to the two committees at Annual 2020 and was not ready for consideration at Midwinter 2021.
The second is a
Resolution in Support of Open Educational Resources. This is a joint resolution from the IFC and the Committee on Legislation that originated from a request from a Councilor to address the issue.
As these are both joint resolutions and as all the committees involved have already had their final joint meetings before Annual, we won't be able to make any changes prior to presenting them to Council for our consideration, but I wanted to share them in advance so that you may consider any amendments you wish to offer when they come to the floor for a vote. These resolutions will also be on the agenda for Council Forum I if you have any questions about how we got to the final versions.
On behalf of the Intellectual Freedom Committee, I want to thank our colleagues on the International Relations Committee, the Committee on Legislation, and other volunteers who worked on these resolutions.
Best,
Martin Garnar
