I wanted to advise Council members that on Monday, April 28, I will be sending an e-mail invitation to all ALA members asking them to register for the annual Virtual Membership Meeting (VMM14). All the details follow.
Because this ALA Connect posting is provided in advance to Council members, the links will not be active until April 28, when VMM14 registration officially begins.
I invite you to register for ALA’s annual online Virtual Membership Meeting (VMM14) on Thursday, June 5, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. CDT.
In this always informative and lively meeting, we plan to include:
- An update on my presidential initiatives
- An update on ALA’s new strategic advocacy, policy and professional development initiatives
- An update on ALA’s budget and financial picture.
- An open forum/chat covering topics ranked by members in a poll at the beginning of the meeting. Live captioning will be provided so that all registrants can participate.
- An opportunity to discuss and vote on resolutions or testimonials offered by members. (All current ALA personal members may vote.)
New for 2014! We’ll include your images and video links that illustrate your library’s community involvement or other unique and interesting things that make yours a 21st-century library. Please follow the image submission guidelinesand use theonline submission form to submit images and video.
Registration is open now until the start of the meeting itself on June 5. A dedicated VMM14 Webpage and ALA Connect group each include all relevant documents. If you plan to submit a resolution, you’ll find the guidelines there. Resolutions must be submitted by May 29, 2014, 2 p.m. (CDT).
The meeting will end at 3:30 p.m. (CDT), but the chat session will remain open for an additional 15 minutes to allow you to wrap up any ongoing chats.
