  • 1.  Libraries Transform Work Session

In preparation for ALA Annual and in particular Council, I am proposing a work session on the public awareness campaign Libraries Transform to be held during Council I, time permitting.  Council represents an incredible brain trust to contribute to Association-wide initiatives.  Based on the Chapter Councilor discussion, I also acknowledge that Councilors want an increased level of engagement and two-way conversation to advance greater participation in advancing our profession.  This could be an opportunity for Council to discuss Libraries Transform as a "global" ALA public awareness campaign and to develop a communication strategy that moves public awareness to a state and multi-type local library initiative.  Please share your thoughts via ALA Connect.

I think this is an outstanding idea, Sari! As the newly minted ALSC Division Councilor, I'm actively seeking ways to engage more deeply with all our Council colleagues on a variety of issues, and your proposed work session sounds like the perfect opportunity. This will be a meaningful investment with enormous potential to move both ALA and our profession forward.

    Warmest regards,

I think this could be a great idea, if the logistics can be worked out. I'm looking forward to the work session!

Thanks, Sari, for pulling this together. I so hope that time will allow because this is such important work.

    Hi Sari,

As you are probably aware, there was discussion at MW, out and about and in the Council forums, about making Council sessions more productive when they end early. I think a work session as proposed would be a great idea.

    Thanks!
