    Dear Councilors,

On behalf of Emily Drabinski, 2022-2023 ALA President-elect, ALA is announcing the call for self-nominations for the ALA Executive Board.  ALA Council's Committee on Committees (COC), chaired by President-elect Drabinski, will soon begin its task of determining six (6) Council nominees to run for three (3) positions on the ALA Executive Board.

The purpose of this post is to encourage any Councilor who wishes to be considered for candidacy to indicate your interest. Click here for the "job description" of ALA Board Member. Please reach out to governance@ala.rog with any additional questions regarding the Board Member role.

This election will take place during the 2023 LibLearnX Council Meetings, and candidates will also participate in the ALA Executive Board Candidates Forum on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. CT. The first three (3) candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected to 3-year terms (2023-2026). Newly elected Executive Board members will begin their term at the conclusion of the Annual Conference in 2023.

Eligibility: Per ALA bylaws, Article III. Nominations and Elections, Section 6. C., "Candidates shall be nominated from among the members of the Council who are serving by virtue of election to it, as provided in Article IV, Section 2.b., c., d., and e. of the Bylaws, and who will have served at the midwinter meeting and the annual conference immediately preceding their prospective terms as Executive Board Members. Additional nominations for the Executive Board may be made by Councilors from the floor."

Please click here to submit your self-nomination for COC's consideration. Self-nominations must be received no later than 5 pm CT on Monday, November 28, 2022. Please reach out to governance@ala.org with any questions.

The members of the 2022-2023 Committee on Committees (COC) are Alanna Aiko Moore, Kimberly Patton, Madeline Peña Feliz, Nicholas Tepe, and ALA President-elect Emily Drabinski, COC Chair.

    Hi all,
Thank you for this reminder, Holly, and for the extension to November 30th. That's Wednesday everybody!

I am just sending my own appeal--please do consider putting yourself forward for the Executive Board. This is such a crucial time for the association and for the field, and the full participation and engagement of all of us is necessary. The executive board is a great way to contribute to ALA and to the field as a whole. Join us!

As a reminder, here's the link to self-nominate!

    All the best,
    Emily
