International Children's Book Day is just a month away on April 2nd. IBBY Mexico is the sponsor for this year's International Children's Book Day Celebration and has chosen the theme: "Once Upon a Time, There Was a Story the Whole World Told."  Imagine how you could share this message with the children in your life.  You can print a copy of the beautiful poster from the USBBY International Children's Book Day website: http://www.usbby.org/icbd.html

April 2 is the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen. His stories have been translated into more than 150 languagues, perhaps you could share one of his tales in your story time, class room or at home with your family.

IBBY Australia is celebrating with their nominees for the Hans Christian Andersen Award, Bob Graham and Christobel Mattingley. The US nominees this year are Paul Fleischman and Chris Raschka. Why not introduce your young readers to their works? IBBY National Sections from 32 countries have nominated 27 authors and 30 illustrators as candidates for the 2012 Hans Christian Andersen Awards.  Visit the IBBY website for a complete list of these authors and illustrators.

Publish your idea for how you will celebrate International Children's Book Day at the USBBY website and see the creative ways others will use this special occasion to share books with the children in their lives.
