Please note the Council Forum times for ALA Annual, as posted in the scheduler and on the Council list:
Sunday 6/24 7:15 am - 8:15 am (Council I starts at 8:30 am)
Monday 6/25 7:15 am - 8:15 am ( Council II starts at 8:30 am)
Monday 6/25 4 pm - 5 pm (Council III is Tuesday, 6/26, 7:45 am)
The Forum times are correct -- but the previous post is not correct that Council immediately follows the first and second Forum.
See you soon in the Big Easy!

Original Message------
Did you know there is an open community on ALA Connect for the Youth Council Caucus? Many members of AASL, ALSC, and YALSA have joined. I sent out the message below to some people and wanted to be sure no councilor was left out.
There will be several opportunities for those interested in youth issues to meet, explore, debate, and deepen the discussion during ALA Annual. For example,
Youth Council Caucus meeting is Sunday, from 11:30-12:30 in the back of council - not in the location listed in the scheduler
Here are the new times proposed for the informal Council forums instead of the three evening sessions:
- Sunday 6/24 7:15 am - 8:15 am (move directly into Council I)
- Monday 6/25 7:15 am - 8:15 am (move directly into Council II)
- Monday 6/25 4 pm - 5 pm
The council suite (
a Governor's Suite in the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel at 500 Canal Street) is reserved for informal sessions to pop-in and meet the newly elected youth councilors at these times:
- Saturday June 23 8-9 pm
- Sunday June 24 1-2 pm
The Sunday morning forum conflicts with AASL Affiliate Assembly, so I appreciate anyone who can attend and report back from this.
Possible resolutions that could be discussed online and in person include:
the resolution to honor African Americans Who Fought Library Segregation
the resolution on the educational requirements of the ALA Executive Director after the voting failed to achieve the majority needed for passing
a possible resolution on continuing education
Washington Office updates and helpful advice.
Please continue to add additional details, share this with others interested in youth issues, and let's get all of the councilors who represent youth to sign up for this community.
Thank you for your help.
Respectfully submitted,
Diane R. Chen
