Spurred on by Dr. Joyce Valenza, the Youth Council Caucus, representatives of youth affiliates, committees, round tables and the Freedom to Read Foundation worked collaboratively in November and December to develop a
resolution for Council to strengthen the work of ALA in support of the troubling challenges to books and other materials in schools and public libraries. Martin Garner, chair of the Intellectual Freedom Committee attended some meetings and offered good advice.
