Hi all,
I wanted to forward this invite to a virtual panel at the UT Austin iSchool happening next week, Thursday, October 14, 5:30-6:30 PM CT. A couple of us are former Diversity Resident Librarians (shameless self-promotion, I will be the panel's moderator). These panelists are some of my libraries and archives heroes and I am beyond excited to showcase their incredible work.
Centering Communities: Reframing Libraries and Archives Work
Join the UT Austin School of Information for a virtual, moderated panel conversation that centers the lived experiences of being a memory worker in Texas communities. Panelists will discuss navigating the predominantly white libraries and archives fields and how they center communities in their work. All are welcome! Panelists include:
Alan Garcia - Community Archivist, ATX Barrio Archive & Exhibition Specialist, George Washington Carver Center
Ayshea Khan - Asian American Community Archivist, Austin History Center
Laura Tadena – Equity and Inclusion Consultant, Texas State Libraries and Archives Commission (TSLAC)
Rachel Winston - Black Diaspora Archivist, UT Austin
Moderator: Adriana Cásarez - US Studies Liaison Librarian, UT Austin
Folks can register through this Google Form. You'll receive the Zoom link the day before the event.
Feel free to forward this on and let me know if you have any questions!
Un saludo,
Adriana
