  • 1.  URGENT: ANSS Conference Program Planning Committee - Chicago 2026 Opportunity

    Posted Jul 25, 2025 03:44 PM

Dear ANSS Colleagues, we have an exciting immediate opportunity to join our Conference Program Planning Committee for ALA Annual 2026 in Chicago! Due to recent changes, we're looking for one enthusiastic member to help develop our program proposal.

Why This is a Great Opportunity:

    • Location advantage: ALA 2026 is in Chicago - perfect for local members or those who love the Windy City
    • Front-loaded commitment: Most intensive work is July-September for proposal development
    • Experienced team: Work alongside Emera Bridger Wilson (Chair), Catherine Bowers (Vice-Chair), and Jess Hagman
    • Impactful work: Help shape programming that serves our entire ANSS community

    What's Involved:

    • Collaborate on developing a compelling program proposal (due September 2025)
    • Virtual meetings through early fall for proposal development
    • If the proposal is accepted, coordination work leading to ALA Annual 2026
    • Opportunity to help execute the program at the conference

    Time Commitment:

    • July-September: 2-3 hours monthly for proposal development
    • Fall-Spring: commitment to developing the program content
    • June 2026: Program coordination during ALA Annual

    Ideal for:

    • Chicago-area librarians who can easily attend ALA 2026
    • ANSS members interested in program planning experience
    • Anyone passionate about creating engaging professional development content
    • Those looking for meaningful but time-bounded committee service

    Requirements:

    • Current ALA/ACRL/ANSS membership
    • Enthusiasm for anthropology, sociology, or criminal justice librarianship
    • Ability to participate in virtual meetings through fall 2025

Given our September proposal deadline, we're hoping to add new members within the next two weeks.

If you're interested or have questions, please email me directly at mimmo@asu.edu by August 5, 2025. I'm happy to discuss the role in more detail or connect you with current committee members.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to ANSS programming while building your professional network and gaining valuable committee experience!

Thank you for considering service to ANSS!

    Cheers,

    Domenico (Mimmo) Bonanni
