  • 1.  update on 2023-24 ACRL Chapters Council "Work Plan"

    Thank you very much to ACRL Past President Erin Ellis for taking the time to review ACRL Chapters Council's 2022-23 "Year-End Report" and 2023-24 "Work Plan". She does not have any changes to the "Year-End Report", but she is guiding the Chapters Council leadership in revising the "Work Plan", specifically Activity #3, creating an award special to Chapters Council. The ACRL awards program is on hold, due to the ongoing work of the Awards Process Implementation Task Force (read more here). 

    The Chapters Council leadership will need either to replace Activity #3 with a different one or to remove Activity #3 entirely, before resubmitting the "Work Plan". If you have any ideas for a different activity, please let me know, at eedwards@ilsos.gov, as soon as possible. As a starting point, the activity that received the fewest votes in the planning poll at the June meeting, but that might still be worth exploring further, would be to post prompts periodically to the Chapters Council space on ALA Connect, in order to encourage discussion and an exchange of ideas among members. This is something Chapters Council does already, to a limited extent, but expanding this effort might prove worthwhile.

    For everyone's reference, I have attached the current version of the "Year-End Report" and "Work Plan". Once the Chapters Council leadership has revised and resubmitted the "Work Plan" portion for 2023-24, and it has received Past President Ellis's official approval, I will post the final version to this space.

    Past President Ellis would like to receive any feedback on replacing Activity #3, or omitting it entirely, by next week Friday, October 13, so if you could please e-mail me your comments by Thursday, October 12, at eedwards@ilsos.gov, that would work well.
