    Posted Mar 06, 2024 03:28 PM

    Hello ESMIG Members,

The minutes and slides from the February 20th, 2024 ESMIG meeting are now available in the ESMIG community page library.

Our March Meeting will be held on Tuesday March 12, 2024 at 1:00 PM EST. (Zoom link will be forthcoming).  We hope to find some volunteers who are familiar with using OPENALEX for evidence synthesis or are willing to demonstrate the use of this free and open catalog of global research to the group. Please contact Aimee Jenkins aimees@pitt.edu if interested.  If we do not get any volunteers by Friday March 8th - the March meeting will be cancelled.

Here is an update on OpenAlex I received today:

There is a new version of the OpenAlex webapp, with lots of great new features:

    • save searches and set alerts
    • filter by topics, subfields, fields, and domains
    • see more data pages on pages for works, authors, etc
    • view pages for SDGs, work types, countries, and more
    • create filters faster with better search bar

Watch the video walkthrough here, or check it out now at https://openalex.org!

Also check out this evaluation of OpenAlex published by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health Downloadable as PDF in Norwegian but does have a summary in English https://www.fhi.no/en/publ/2023/Evaluation-of-OpenAlex/

In our April Meeting our Co Convener, Amy Riegelman, will be leading a discussion on the following article:
