We're excited to welcome you to the newly merged ACRL/ULS Academic Libraries Topics & Trends Discussion Group, and we invite members to join us for our next discussion on Monday, May 4 at 2:00 PM EST for an informal conversation around the figurative water cooler!
This month's discussion explores the future of universities and the role libraries will play, inspired by an essay titled "What the University of the Future Will Look Like" by Steven Mintz published in The Chronicle of Higher Education. In summation, Mintz asserts that the traditional model of a four-year, in-person college experience is no longer the only, or even the primary path for many students. As a result, universities are being pushed to become more flexible, career-focused, and responsive to a wider range of learners.
Attendees are encouraged to respond to the article and to reflect on their own experiences and share how their organization is approaching the future of higher education.
The discussion will be hosted and recorded on Zoom and will last one hour. Discussions are designed to encourage active discussion from all participants, and we welcome perspectives from all areas of library work. Participants are welcome to bring a coffee, tea, or snack as we chat!
