Transforming Libraries for Graduate Students (TLGS) is hosting another spring webinar Monday, April 24th at 12pm CST.
Please join us for an informative talk on supporting graduate students in:
User-focused Working Groups: The Graduate Support Team presented by Nadine Hoffman and Rhiannon Jones from the University of Calgary.
In June 2020, Libraries and Cultural Resources at the University of Calgary created user-focused support teams as a way of ensuring that the library could respond to the changing needs of our users during the pandemic. Three groups were created to focus on patron needs: faculty, undergraduate, and graduate students. The groups were originally tasked with ensuring that all users could access library resources, support, and learn remotely in an equitable way. This webinar will look at the work of the GST from its inception to now. The presenters will discuss original mandates and examine how priorities shifted over the course of the pandemic to the return to in-person learning while including all levels of staff. They will identify ways the work has strengthened student relationships and library relationships across the broader campus community.
Key Takeaways:
- Learn about best practices when working with user-focused groups
- Discover new ways of developing cross-campus partnerships by focusing outside of the liaison model
- Identify effective ways of managing collaborative work teams in busy environments with multiple and shifting priorities
